Commitment to Professional Development

* CHP&M Definition:
Up-to-date with the current thinking in our fields, bringing a wide array of practical options for our clients to consider, arriving with an open mind and healthy energy, balancing a readiness to support and to challenge.
Denise, Jane and Josh find the consulting process stimulating and energizing. From Day One, we have been committed to staying on our toes* – day by day and year after year. In order to do that, we have devised several ways to stay fresh.

Sabbatical

Each year, one CHP&M partner takes a six week sabbatical. There are only three rules for the time away: (1) No client contact during a six week block of time. (2) Enjoy yourself. (3) Come back refreshed and renewed!

Partners Retreat

For two days every summer, we invest time in the CHP&M Partners Retreat. The retreat is our time to focus on business planning, joint learning, relationship building and renewal. Retreats take place in settings that foster idea development, professional growth and a sense of fun.

Professional Enrichment

Every year, each CHP&M partner participates in 1-2 professional development activities, such as conferences, seminars, working on a project where she/he can learn something new, etc. Most years we have been able to attend one conference or seminar as a team – making the learning and the event even more meaningful.

Peer Learning

For over ten years, we have engaged a colleague to work with us for a half-day or day of targeted learning based on their experiences and writing. We enjoy these special sessions immensely. Some colleagues that we have met with over the years include Marv Wiesbord, Ed Friedman, Tom Gilmore, Rosabeth Moss Kanter, Rick Maurer, and Joe Coates.

Personal Experiences

Each of us continues to pursue our own interests and hobbies. Whether it be photography courses in Provence, walking trips in Italy, fly fishing in Utah, wine making at home, cultural courses on the art and language of Italy, adventures in the backroads of Asia, or the latest in kids activities, each of our personal experiences adds to the repertoire and spirit of Cavanaugh, Hagan, Pierson & Mintz.
