Jane E. Pierson
Jane Pierson began her professional career as a journalist, political strategist and non-profit leader. She is a partner and serves as President of CHP&M. Since 1985 Jane has worked with leaders of non-profit organizations, government agencies, corporations, philanthropic organizations and family foundations to help them craft strategy and manage their complex and growing organizations.
Jane's practice focuses on the strategic, social and political currents in organizations and how they shape structure, direction and culture of institutions and their governance structures. Her services include organization diagnosis and assessment; consulting to leadership and management teams; retreat and meeting facilitation; strategy development and strategic planning; governance and board/staff role clarification; CEO and senior manager and board assessments; conflict management; consultation on reorganization and organization change.
Jane was a journalist in Michigan and Indiana and was a founder and former Executive Director of the National Women's Political Caucus. She was also Director of Legislative and Political Affairs at the American Federal of Government Employees of the AFL-CIO before joining Denise Cavanaugh and Ann Hagan to found the firm.
Jane has authored assessment instruments, including the Assessment of the Chief Executive: A Tool for Governing Boards and Chief Executives of Nonprofit Organizations; Self Assessment for Foundation Boards; and CHP&M's Nonprofit Board Self Assessment Instrument. She also authored an article on organization culture and structure for the American Management Association. She holds a Master of Science Degree in Organization and Human Resource Development from the joint program of the American University and the NTL Institute. An experienced speaker and educator, Ms Pierson was a Fellow at Harvard University's Institute of Politics at the Kennedy School of Government, and is a Fellow of the NTL Institute.
